The operation involves removing, using plastic surgery techniques, a portion of the mucous membrane and orbicularis oris muscle (spindle incision with local flaps). The incisions are made inside the lip, preserving the natural, harmonious shape. The resulting scars are therefore invisible, as they are hidden inside the mouth.
