Liposuction

Liposuction, or lipoaspiration, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that allows for slimming of the silhouette by aspirating fat deposits in certain parts of the body.

Liposuction is the most frequently performed cosmetic and plastic surgery procedure in the world. It is the simplest and most effective treatment for permanently removing excess fat and fat cells from many areas of the body and for lastingly improving your figure.

Liposuction is performed in a clinic in the operating room under local anesthesia (gentle liposuction) or general anesthesia.

The results of liposuction are visible three to six months after the procedure and the result lasts a lifetime if you have a healthy lifestyle.

The areas most often treated by liposuction are the stomach, thighs and inner thighs, saddlebags, hips and love handles.

How can I know if I am a suitable candidate for liposuction?

You are a good candidate for liposuction if you are in good health and your BMI (body mass index) is less than or equal to 30. If you are looking for a weight loss solution or a treatment for cellulite, liposuction is not the best choice.

If the patient has good skin elasticity, they will obtain a very good result.

If your weight is stable, the fat will not return after liposuction.

How long is the hospital stay for liposuction?

The length of hospitalization varies from a few hours on an outpatient basis with same-day discharge to an overnight stay at the clinic, depending on the extent of the procedure (volume of fat removed) and the patient's place of residence (if you live far from the clinic, you will need to stay overnight for your safety)

What type of anesthesia is used for liposuction?

The choice of anesthesia type depends on:

Your preference
, the amount of fat to be removed,
and the areas to be treated.
Most often, general anesthesia is used, but the following types of anesthesia can be considered:

General anesthesia
, sedation (neuroleptanalgesia),
regional anesthesia (epidural),
local anesthesia

How long will the operation take?

The duration of the procedure depends directly on the amount of fat to be removed and the areas to be treated. Liposuction typically takes between 1 and 3 hours.

What are the different types of liposuction possible?

Traditional Liposuction: We use a cannula (thin tube) to remove fat cells from the body by suction.
Ultrasonic Liposuction: Vaser lipo or Vaser liposuction: This technique eliminates large fat deposits while tightening the skin. It allows for high-definition or 4D liposuction.
Power-Assisted Liposuction: Lipomatic or PAL microaire:
In this procedure, we use a vibrating cannula to break up fat cells. This allows for smaller incisions and a simpler recovery thanks to more precise liposuction.

Other cosmetic surgery procedures can be combined with liposuction.
