Tattoos are inclusions of pigment in the dermis or hypodermis
The principle behind lasers currently used for tattoo removal is the fragmentation of the pigment.
The advent of Q-switched lasers has revolutionized tattoo removal treatments, which in many cases can be eliminated almost without leaving a trace.
This type of laser is the only way to effectively remove tattoos while avoiding the scarring that is common with other methods such as CO2 lasers, dermabrasion, or acid removal. It uses innovative photoacoustic technology that produces powerful energy through narrower pulses.
TREATMENT INDICATIONS
The QUANTA Q Switched laser allows for the removal of all types of tattoos, both professional and amateur. Small ornamental tattoos in black, blue, or red respond well to the laser and can often be removed quickly. Orange and purple inks are also achievable with excellent results thanks to the use of a specific crystal for these colors. Turquoise and green inks are the most resistant. Cosmetic tattoos used as permanent makeup can also be removed.
PROTOCOL
PRELIMINARY CONSULTATION
The preliminary consultation not only allows for the establishment of a quote but also for the prescription of a treatment protocol which optimizes the process and the short and medium-term follow-up of the tattoo removal sessions.
SESSION PROCEDURE
During treatment, brief, concentrated pulses of light are directed at the tattoo. The wavelengths of light and energy heat the tattoo and fragment the ink molecules. The fragmentation of the mineral particles leads to their transepidermal elimination in part and their phagocytosis by macrophages in part. The tattoo fades as the immune system eliminates the dispersed ink particles. The Q-PLUS laser from Quanta System is the only Q-switched laser that can be configured with Ruby and Nd:YAG laser sources. It thus uses wavelengths of 532, 694, and 1064 nm. This allows for the effective removal of all tattoo colors, primarily black, blue, purple, yellow, green, and red pigments, with a very low risk of scarring or changes in skin texture.
The session is performed under local anesthesia. The treatment is gradual. Several sessions spaced apart are required. For a complete treatment, 6 to 8 sessions at one-month intervals are necessary.
Depending on their size and depth, the treatment of black or blue tattoos requires 3 to 10 treatment sessions.
The presence of multiple colors may require additional sessions.
SUITES
The after-effects of tattoo removal include a phase of oozing on the treated area.
It is important for the patient to use dressings including a local antibiotic during the first week, followed by dressings including a healing agent during the following two weeks.
A check-up is essential after one month, if necessary during the next session of the treatment program.
