Upper eyelid cosmetic surgery (upper blepharoplasty) consists of removing excess skin and/or fatty pouches in the upper eyelids (which opens up the gaze).
Blepharoplasty reduces signs of ageing present at the level of the eyelids and replaces the “tired” look of the eyes with a more rested and relaxed appearance.
The protocol:
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. The stitches are removed 5 to 8 days later. Swelling and bruising are limited through preparation, tailor-made care and the LEDS.
The results:
The scars are quickly discreet. A timeframe of 1 to 4 months is needed to truly appreciate the result. This is the time necessary for the tissues to have regained full flexibility. The procedure has most often made it possible to correct sagging of the skin and muscles, remove fat hernias, and thereby rectify the aged and tired look of the eyes.
Aftercare:
The threads are removed between day 5 and day 7 after the procedure. The post-operative course is mainly marked by the appearance of swelling, bruising (ecchymoses) and tearing, the extent and duration of which vary greatly from one individual to another. There are no real pains, but possibly some discomfort with a sensation of eyelid tension, slight eye irritation or some visual disturbances. The scar is almost invisible and located at the level of the crease halfway along the eyelid.
After the procedure?
During the first two days after eyelid surgery, it is recommended to cool the eyelids and hydrate the eyes with compresses soaked in cold normal saline serum. This will help reduce eyelid swelling and limit bruises and hematomas. Wearing sunglasses during the post-op period will help camouflage bruises and protect eyes that are sensitive to light after surgery.
The duration of social downtime is about one week, depending on the variable degree of bruising, black eyes (coquards) and swelling. Complications such as bleeding or infection are extremely rare.
Aesthetic surgery of the lower eyelids
(lower blepharoplasty) consists of removing excess skin and/or fat herniations under the eyes (fat hernias), at the lower eyelids (by removing the under-eye bags that create a tired look).
SURGERY FOR WRINKLES UNDER THE EYES
Excess skin at the level of the lower eyelids can be removed surgically with a scar under the eyelashes; the surgeon tightens the circular ocular muscle (orbicularis of the eyelids).
The scar is very discreet under the eyelashes and within an eyelid crease at the crow’s feet area.Excess, wrinkled skin of the lower eyelids can also be tightened and smoothed by laser or by a chemical peel, without any visibly noticeable scars.
SURGERY FOR UNDER-EYE BAGS
This involves lower eyelid blepharoplasty via a transconjunctival approach. This technique more specifically helps to refresh and revitalize the face by reducing the puffiness and swelling of under-eye bags. It consists of a transconjunctival incision on the inside of the lower eyelids. The scars left by these incisions are not visible.
The protocol:
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia.
Swelling and bruising are limited by preparation, tailored care, and LEDS.
Right after the procedure, you will not truly feel pain, but rather mild discomfort with a feeling of eyelid tightness or drooping, itching, tearing, or dryness. These sensations are normal and only last a few days.
The duration and severity of bruising and edema vary from person to person. Bruising usually disappears after seven to ten days, and edema in about two weeks. It is best to rest for a few days after the surgery.
The operated eyelid returns to a normal appearance after one to two months, and its natural flexibility after six months. Recovery for eyelid surgeries is therefore quick, since results are visible within a few weeks.
They are long-lasting and the surgery rarely needs to be repeated during a lifetime. Scars are almost imperceptible in most patients.
After blepharoplasty, it is recommended to limit aging factors other than age, such as sun exposure, tobacco, and alcohol. It is important to protect the incisions from the sun by using sunglasses and/or a high-protection sunscreen.
Transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty may be offered to a patient with dark circles or under-eye bags, whose eyes generally have a tired appearance.
The procedure will aim to refresh their appearance. It can be performed on adult men or women
It is generally intended for relatively young individuals with bags without excess skin.
