BOTOX

Botulinum toxin is primarily used in cosmetic medicine for young patients (men or women) with supple, healthy skin, either to prevent or treat the first signs of aging in the upper third of their face.

This injectable product, a true favorite among cosmetic doctors and surgeons, is also used for older patients with established wrinkles.

Thanks to this protein complex, which has been used since the early 2000s, the natural progression of permanent wrinkle formation is slowed down and collagen destruction appears to be minimized.

Botulinum toxin is used to correct many facial imperfections and can be injected into the muscles of the following areas:

Forehead: horizontal or transverse wrinkles at the top of the forehead.

Interbrow area: frown lines or glabellar lines (due to frowning).

Eye contour: crow's feet wrinkles (or wrinkles at the outer corner of the eyes), raised eyebrow tails, fine lines on the lower eyelids.

Nose: root of the nose, lateral fine lines.

Cheek: fine lines on the cheeks.

Mouth contour : drooping corners of the mouth, marionette lines (running from the bottom of the nostrils to the corners of the mouth), fine lines around the upper lip.

Neck: vertical cords and folds of the neck (also called platysmal bands).

After a botulinum toxin injection, the skin is naturally smoother and more relaxed, the eyes appear less tense and softer, wrinkles are smoothed away and the face looks rested, as if soothed.

It is a very effective and safe cosmetic medicine procedure to smooth and correct dynamic wrinkles of the upper face.

What precautions should be taken after an injection?

It is not recommended to lie down, engage in strenuous physical activity, visit a spa (hammam or sauna), or massage the injected areas for 48 hours following a botulinum toxin injection.

It is best to avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication until the day after the treatment. Wearing a bicycle or motorcycle helmet, as well as headscarves and caps, is also prohibited for half a day after the procedure.

Side effects are extremely rare. Slight redness or even minor swelling may occur for a few minutes, or a feeling of tightness in the forehead may be experienced. These temporary effects may occur at the injection sites and disappear quickly, within minutes or hours of the injection.

Results after a Botox injection

Results are visible 7-10 days after injection, depending on the toxin used, and are optimal approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the session.

You will notice a reduction in expression lines caused by muscle contraction: the frown lines are visibly softened, the skin on the forehead appears smoother and more relaxed, your face looks younger, and your eyes appear rested. A free follow-up consultation allows us to check the results and, if necessary, perform a minor touch-up to optimize future sessions.

Botulinum toxin poses no risk to the patient. It has been used since 1975 in neurology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics to correct facial tics and spasms, uncontrollable blinking, and strabismus in children.
