Liposuction

Liposuction (or lipoaspiration) is an aesthetic surgery procedure that helps slim the silhouette by aspirating localized fat deposits in certain parts of the body.

Liposuction is the most commonly performed aesthetic and plastic surgery procedure in the world. It is the simplest and most effective treatment to permanently remove excess fat and fat cells from many areas of the body and to improve your silhouette over the long term.

Liposuction is performed in a clinic in the operating theater under local anesthesia (gentle liposuction) or general anesthesia.

Liposuction results become visible three to six months after the procedure, and the outcome lasts a lifetime if you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The areas most often treated with liposuction are the abdomen, thighs, and inner thighs, saddlebags, hips, and love handles.

How do I know if I can benefit from Liposuction?

You are a good candidate for Liposuction if you are in good health and your BMI (Body Mass Index) is less than or equal to 30. If you are looking for a weight-loss solution or a treatment for cellulite, Liposuction is not the best choice.

If the patient has good skin elasticity, they will achieve a very good result.

If your weight is stable, the fat will not return after Liposuction.

What is the length of hospital stay for liposuction?

The length of hospitalization varies from a few hours for outpatient care with discharge on the same day to an overnight stay at the clinic, depending on the extent of the procedure (the volume of fat suctioned) and the patient’s place of residence (if you live far from the clinic, you will need to stay overnight on site for your safety).

What type of anesthesia is used for liposuction?

The choice of anesthesia type depends on:

Your preference
The amount of fat to be removed
The areas to be treated
Most often, anesthesia is general, but the following anesthetic options may be considered:

General anesthesia
neurolept-analgesia
epidural
Local anesthesia

How long does the procedure take?

The duration of the procedure depends directly on the amount of fat to be removed and the areas to be treated. Liposuction typically takes 1 to 3 hours of surgery time.

What are the different types of liposuction possible?

Traditional Liposuction: We use a cannula (thin tube) to remove body fat cells by suction.
Ultrasonic Liposuction: vaser lipo or vaser liposuction: allows for the removal of large fat deposits while tightening the skin. This technique enables high-definition liposuction or lipo 4D.
Assisted Liposuction: the lipomatic or PAL microaire.
In this procedure, we use a vibrating cannula to break down fat cells. This allows for smaller incisions and easier recovery thanks to more precise liposuction.

Other aesthetic surgery procedures may be combined with liposuction.
